Electropigmentation
Electropigmentation is similar to permanent make-up in that it is a way to permanently color the skin. Most people associate the procedure of electropigmentation with having a practitioner apply their eyeliner permanently; others use electropigmentation to permanent change the color of their skin.
Electropigmentation is very similar to getting a tattoo. Electropigmentation requires the practitioner to inject the pigment just below the skin. The pigment is usually just slightly darker than the current skin color, but some people will want to have an even darker appearance at the completion of their procedure.
The pigment that practitioners use is specific to this procedure. Practitioners premix the pigments prior to the procedure and work with the patient to ensure that the color is correct. People who want a more natural appearance after the completion of their procedure should know that the pigmentation color will blend with their natural skin tone, but may appear much darker at first and will fade in time.
The electropigmentation procedure is a simple procedure that is not painful. Some patients may experience minor discomfort during the procedure, but there are topical anesthetics that a practitioner can use on patients who are particularly sensitive to the procedure. Patients often return to work immediately following their procedure because there is no downtime after the electropigmentation treatment. Side effects are mild, but can include redness, swelling and sometimes slight bruising from the procedure.
Electropigmentation is a non-surgical procedure. Due to the fact the electro pigmentation is a non-surgical procedure there are no certifications that practitioners must have to perform the procedure. People who want to explore the possibility of having an electropigmentation procedure should consider allowing a plastic surgeon perform their electropigmentation treatment. Plastic surgeons usually have more training and experience in performing electropigmentation procedures and therefore, patients can expect better results from their treatment.
