Fotofacial

Afotofacial is a treatment that people have to rid their face and bodies of redness in the complexion, fine lines and wrinkles, large pores and other issues like sun damage, veins on the surface of the skin, uneven pigmentation and dull skin. Fotofacials are safe procedures that usually occur in a medical spa atmosphere by a nurse or aesthetician.

A fotofacial uses intense light therapy, which is not the same as laser therapy. The practitioner moves the device around the skin delivering a precise amount of light energy to the skin, which stimulates the production of collagen. The production of collagen helps to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles by improving the fullness of the skin. This fullness of the skin is what gives the skin its youthful appearance.

Fotofacials offer immediate results for patients and do not have any down time for recovery. The procedure itself is fairly painless and most patients report feeling only a slight snapping sensation, like a rubber band snapping against the skin. Topically anesthesia is available for those patients who do not wish to take a chance on having any discomfort during the procedure.

The results of a fotofacial may vary slightly from person to person usually depending on what the condition is that the patient is seeking treatment for. However, all patients report minimal side effects from the fotofacial procedure regardless of what they are seeking treatment for. For most patients, this skin may appear a little more flushed or red as the capillaries are nearer to the surface, however this appearance seems to minimize itself in a short period of time leaving younger looking skin behind.

Some patients will need more than one treatment, but each treatment session only lasts about 15 minutes to a half hour depending on what the condition is and the size of the area that the treatment is covering.
